reflection
What was difficult about this project and what was easy?
This project was difficult for me because it's easy to get stuck when designing and creating movement. Furthermore, each member of the group has their own interpretation of the movements and emotions. Furthermore, I believe the most challenging part for me is overcoming the embarrassment of performing in front of others and attempting to integrate into the play, which implies that my facial expression must match the plot.
What was interesting, surprising, frustrating?
I think it's sometimes interesting because I can create my own plot rather than just imitating or following other people's movements. Furthermore, I think the lighting has surprised me because when the lights turned on, I feel as if I am standing on a stage and performing. In addition, the light evokes a variety of emotions and feelings in me. The blue light will turn on in our group when they appear to be isolating me, and it looks amazing. Furthermore, what frustrates me is that when the lights are turned on, I can't see anything but the light, which causes me to lose my balance.
What changed the most from the beginning to the end of the project?
I think the most significant change in our group was the passion for designing the plot. After a few days, everyone became interested in it and was more engaged. As a result, we all contribute, listen to other's suggestions, think creatively about movements, and try to stand out from others.
What were your group dynamics like?
Our group dynamics are really active, we all contribute to the design of movements, and we were all trying to be more engaged with each other since it's an 8 a.m. class, and we feel tired. So we try to encourage each other to be active and productive.
How well was your group able to improvise, share ideas, share leadership, etc.?
On improvise, I believe we really did a good job since we tried to do whatever we wanted when listening to the music and that was very helpful at the moment when designing the movements. In order to share the ideas, we connect with others through snapchat to discuss how the show ends, as we were all unclear about the end at the time. We all played a role of leaders in the sharing of leadership. Sophia designed the first part of the movement, David said one suggestion, and I took all of their ideas and optimized them.
How did your group use the principles of improv in their collaboration?
Doing improv while practicing can inspire us or bring ideas to mind
What specifically did you contribute to the group?
It seems that I contribute a lot to this group. I design the endings and optimize everyone's movements. On top of that, I design my own movements and offer various suggestions for group members to do while I perform my own movements.
Lastly, what worked and what needed more work in your project?
I think the improv worked a lot and I need to work harder to make the story more intriguing and my project more unique. Further, I think I should add more words and more movements to the performance in order to make it more like presenting in front of thousands of people in a theater and be more confident.
