semester reflection

First, I learned that inspiration will not come to find you, you have to explore them. Second, it is very common to face challenges and fail. I should not be upset when it happens to me, I should be brave and overcome it. Third, creativity is not always fun, because sometimes it is easy to run out of ideas and it requires hard work. From this semester I think I have found my creative style which is humorous and interesting.

 

I learned that making a mind map and brainstorming before you start a project is very helpful. Because brainstorming can help you to collect ideas in your mind and a mind map can represent your ideas neatly on paper. Besides, I learned that I should manage my time wisely because time is valuable and spending tons of time on something that is not necessary in the project is a waste of time.  Furthermore, I learned that through asking questions or searching things you didn’t understand on the internet can improve the efficiency of your work.

 

From group collaboration, I think it enhances productivity, improves communication with group mates and has various ideas rather than just one. For example, the designing project. Sophia, David and I were in a group and we all contributed to the group, discussing which movements fit the music the best and which phrase would best represent our color and emotion.

 

I think what is difficult for me in this course is that sometimes my ideas run out and it is usually many times for me to find another creative idea. Also, another thing that is difficult for me is group discussions. Even though I have tried to be more active during group discussion, it is still very hard to be productive every time because not everyone has ideas at the same time and many of us wait for other people to start the discussion like me. 

 

I think what is engage and interesting is that we have done many projects and played many fun games during class. For example, the boss’s game, we have to make up a story and act out to a person (staff) to guess the story. Also, we have many chances to show what kind of creative person we are. I made a bag in one of the projects, though I didn’t paint the color I still like my design because it clearly shows what kind of person I am.

 

I think I grow a lot because I look at everything with different perspectives but not judge one thing quickly. I am based on creativity and logic and this helped me to organize my writing project and designing project. I think the bigger difference between the final project and before is the video, it seemed to be boring so I put music, different color, funny voice to help the reader follow my video and not to get bored. 

 

As a student I am very lucky because I found out what I am passionate about which is teaching. I enjoyed the time when I was standing in front of my classmates and introducing my project to them.  I found out that I am outgoing, enthusiastic, and most importantly I am always positive and pass people positive emotions. 

 

Finally, I think there are many skills that I can use in this course. Creative thinking skills. I will always remember that seeing things from different perspectives can make a lot of difference and this not only can be used in this course but also in daily life. For example, when I am a teacher in the future I can see students grade in different perspectives because each perspective has its advantages and drawbacks. Therefore, I think this could help me to see things in a more objective view.
